Halifax Town FC director dies in crash

Halifax Town FC has confirmed that Debbie Charlton, their director of business development, was killed in a car crash on Valentine’s Day.

In a statement on their website, the club said: “It is with sadness that FC Halifax Town announce the death of Debbie Charlton – director for business development, following a motor accident early on Saturday evening, February 14.

“The car in which she was travelling as a passenger was in collision with another car on Rochdale Road, Triangle, Halifax.

“Everyone involved with the club extend their condolences to her family and friends at this sad, sad time.”

Bradford Bulls also released a statement on Twitter, saying: “Our thoughts go out to the family of Debbie Charlton, a former Bradford Bulls employee of over 15 years, who passed away last night. RIP.”

Bradford Bulls player Danny Addy said on Twitter: “Thoughts go out to the family of Debbie Charlton who sadly passed away last night.

“Great woman and did a lot for [Bradford Bulls]. RIP.”

Leeds Rhinos also took to Twitter to pass on their condolences.

In a statement it said: “Deep sadness by news today of the death of former colleague Debbie Charlton.

“Our thoughts and condolences go to her friends and family.”
