Work has also started on phase two of the hospital’s new kitchen and dining room development with the commissioning of the upper floors. Building work began this week, completion being due in mid-December.

The 168,000 scheme will provide a base for domestic supervisors, who need to be in a central hospital location as they work at night. Also on the first floor will be a temporary bed store.

Hospital management offices will move to the top floor, with staff leaving their current offices, close to clinical areas, for clinical staff.

Hospital bosses say they apologise for any inconvenience.
