Hospital signs are ‘too confusing’

HOSPITAL bosses yesterday launched an appeal for people to join a series of focus groups after admitting patients found it difficult to find their way to different departments.

Barnsley Hospital said it had carried out a review and it wanted to gauge opinions on a series of new ideas from the public
before any of them were implemented.

Project manager Kirsten Woodhouse said: “It is really important before we start making any changes that we know what our patients and visitors think – to make sure we are addressing the real issues and coming up with signposting solutions that are of real use to people coming to the hospital.

“We recognise that some of the signage in the hospital is dated thanks to several major changes in the last few years which are
not reflected in our current arrangements – including a new car park and a new outpatient entrance.”

Anyone who wants to take part in the focus groups should contact the hospital’s communications team on 01226 432301.
