Hull gives cruise terminal go-ahead

Hull City Council believes a cruise terminal at Sammy’s Point or Albert Dock could deliver £13 million for the city’s economy and a further £15 million for the wider region every year.

Coun Steven Bayes, who holds the council’s visitor destination portfolio said: “The development and delivery of a city centre riverside berth will create a long term legacy for Hull, contributing to the wider regeneration of the city centre.

“Importantly, it will also create long-term employment opportunities for our existing workforce and young people in a key sector.”

The council is considering a range of options for the terminal ranging from a full home port, where cruises can start and finish, to a port of call where passengers can leave the ship and take tours around the region.
