Hunt for armed robbery suspect

A man entered J A and S Windles Newsagents, at the junction of Hirst Gate and Doncaster Road, at around 7.50am on New Years Day.

Initially, he asked for the time before leaving the shop. He then returned minutes later armed with a red baseball bat and threatened a member of staff and ordered him to hand over cash.

The man, who had a distinctive tattoo on his hand, made off with money and three packs of cigarettes.

He left on foot, possibly in the direction of Hirst Gate.
