Not only that, but her resolve to use her own experience to encourage others, especially those with a family history of breast cancer, to seek out medical advice and screening will enable them to make similarly informed decisions about their health.

If by going public in such a way the actress is able to help prevent further needless cancer deaths, then it could well go down as the greatest role she ever plays.
