Keighley council theft probe closed

A council has been given advice about cash handling procedures after a probe into suspected theft.

Keighley Town Council called in police in January over potentially missing civic centre takings.

Two men, aged 24 and 37, were questioned and denied involvement.

Yesterday a police spokeswoman said: “The investigation is now closed pending further information coming to light and the complainant has been informed.

“Advice has also been given with regards to cash handling procedures.”

A separate investigation into the council by the Force Economic Crime Unit is continuing.
