Leeds and Bradford among UK's rainiest cities

Leeds and Bradford have been named among the top 10 wettest cities in the UK.

Bradford placed seventh and Leeds eighth in the list of cities which receive the most rainfall each year.

The infographic, compiled by Freeflush, found that the West Yorkshire rivals experience 1,024mm of rain every year - and that the heavens open on 152 days out of 365.

By contrast, in the driest city, London, it only rains on 109 days with a total of 557mm falling on the capital each year.

The wettest city is the Welsh capital Cardiff, which receives 1,152mm of rainfall over 149 days.

Glasgow experiences the most rainy days- 170 - but the overall volume of precipitation falling on the Scottish city is lower than in Cardiff and another Welsh city, St Davids.

Also featuring in the top 10 are Bangor in Wales, Truro in Cornwall, Preston in Lancashire, Newry in Northern Ireland and the south coast port of Plymouth.
