Lucky escape for driver and young passenger as falling tree lands on car in Yorkshire storms

Two people escaped unharmed after a tree which had been hit by lightening landed on their car in North Yorkshire.

The driver and the nine-year-old passenger were travelling along the B1249 at Foxholes during last night's storms when the tree was felled and landed on the top of their vehicle.

North Yorkshire Police and fire crews were called out at around 7.45pm. The fire service freed the duo who were not injured and then the debris was cleared from the top of the car.

According to officers the nine-year old boy said "It's a story I can tell my Grandchildren"
