Man airlifted to hospital after legs trapped in potato grading machine at Malton farm

A MAN was airlifted to hospital after his legs became trapped inside a potato grading machine at a farm in North Yorkshire.

Fire and ambulance crews were called to a farm in Butterwick, Malton, at 8.30am today to reports of a man in his mid-30s who had both legs trapped inside the machine.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Sherburn, Malton and Scarborough attended the scene.

Air ambulance and road ambulance crews were also at scene and helped release the man using hydraulic cutting equipment.

A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The male was taken to hospital via air ambulance with bruising to the legs however the full extent of the injuries sustained are not known at this stage.”
