Man arrested after York stabbing
The victim, a local man aged in his 40s, suffered serious stab wounds during an altercation with another man in Walmgate between 6.30pm and 6.55pm on Friday.
The injured man was taken to hospital and police arrested a 43-year-old local man nearby, on suspicion of wounding.

Hide AdThe suspect has since been released on bail while police enquiries into the incident continue.
Police patrols have been increased in the area to reassure members of the community.
Detective Constable Robert Brook, of York Serious Crime Team, said: “This was a very busy time of day, and members of the public will have walked past or seen what was going on. I would ask them to contact the police or Crimestoppers with any information.”
Anyone who saw the incident which occurred outside and opposite the One Stop shop, on both sides of Walmgate, is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting the reference number 12170007299.
