Man charged with threats to kill over video shared after UK terror attacks

A man has been charged with threats to kill after a video was shared on social media following the terror attacks in London and Manchester.

Merseyside Police said Paul Hepplestall, 39, of Cornwallis Street in Liverpool, had been charged after a video was shared showing a man with a bladed weapon discussing the recent atrocities.

He was also charged with threats to commit criminal damage and is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning.

Another man, aged 39 and from Kirkby, was arrested on Monday on suspicion of inciting racial hatred, after a second video was shared showing a man in an Everton FC shirt talking about the attacks.

Police said the man had been released pending further investigation.
