Man dies after airlift rescue

A Bridlington man has died after he was airlifted to hospital, police have confirmed.

The air ambulance was called after the man in his 50s failed to show up to work - prompting his employers to raise the alarm.

Police were also in attendance at Britannia Road on Wednesday (February 24) after the man in his 50s suffered life-threatening head injuries.

Officers broke down the door to the property so paramedics could treat the unconscious man.

A spokesman for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance said: "We arrived at 2pm and spent around 30 minutes at the scene.

"We transported a man in his 50s to Hull Royal Infirmary when he was found unconscious with head injuries after falling down the stairs."

A spokesman for Humberside police said the man sadly passed away at Hull Royal Infirmary last night.

A file is being prepared for the coroner.
