Man dies after blaze at house in Doncaster

A MAN aged in his sixties has died following a blaze at a house in Doncaster last night.

Fire crews were called to an address at Church Road, Denaby Main, just after 7pm.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters from Edlington, Rotherham and Dearne stations attended and found the property well alight and heavily smoke logged.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and rescued an unconscious man from the property.

He was taken to hospital but later died after suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and South Yorkshire Police were this morning due launch a joint investigation to discover the cause of the fire.
