Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was knocked off his cycle in a collision in York.

A 22-year-old man was cycling on Poppleton Road, heading uphill towards Boroughbridge Road at around 7.15pm on Tuesday, March 7.

A small red, four-door car pulled out of a junction on the left hand side and collided with him, knocking him off his bike.

The cyclist sustained minor injuries to his ankle and damage to his bike.

The driver, who initially stopped to help the cyclist but did not leave any details of his identity, is described as in his 20s, around 5ft 6ins in height, of stocky build with short ginger hair.

Its thought he had freckles and a red mark on his face, possibly a small cut.

His passenger was described as being in his mid-20s with short brown hair, over six foot tall and had an athletic build. He was wearing jeans and a zipped top.
