Man struck by train on Leeds-York rail line

A MAN was struck by a train on the railway line in Copmanthorpe, York, today.

The incident, at 8.25am, caused major delays for commuters but British Transport Police (BTP) said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman for BTP said: “Officers attended and discovered the body of a man, believed to be a 32-year-old local man, who had injuries consistent with having been struck by a train.

“At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious.

“At 9.05am the Leeds lines reopened and at 10am the East Coast main line was reopened,” the spokesman added.
