Market hall to host opening of new Pennine area festival

THE FIRST ever outdoor festival celebrating some of the best Pennine landscapes in Yorkshire will be launched next week.

The East Peak Outdoors Festival, covering Penistone, Denby Dale, Kirkburton and north Sheffield will begin with a free opening celebration at Penistone’s new and award-winning market hall next Wednesday, featuring live music, food and family activities.

A music train will run on the 
Penistone line with live jazz, leaving Huddersfield at 7.17pm for Sheffield and returning at 8.41pm.

Food at the event will be provided by local producers such as “Penistone Pies and Puddings” and “Deli-cious.”

Meanwhile, the East Peak Traditional Performance Project will provide several live performances throughout the evening.

Denby Dale walkers will also launch their new Walkers are Welcome status during the festival, with a large programme of events in the area which aims to promote walking, cycling and horse riding as well as local cultural and arts activities.

Art in the Park is running a competition for people to share their pictures of the area.
