Transport chiefs, including Highways Agency Project manager David Pilsworth pictured at the regional control centre in Wakefield, said the work to improve 15.5 miles between junction 25 at Brighouse and junction 30 at Rothwell had finished ahead of schedule

The Highways Agency last week lifted the temporary 50mph speed restrictions, marking an end to the work that began in October 2011. Since then, the agency has saved £17m, bringing the final cost to an expected £133m.
