Murder charge over missing Doncaster man

A MAN has been charged with the murder of a Doncaster man who was last seen on New Year’s Day 2010.

Thomas Groome’s body has never been found.

Last night, South Yorkshire Police announced that Jason Thaxter, 38, of Hexthorpe, had been charged with murder and conspiracy to prevent the lawful and decent burial of a dead body.

Thaxter is due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday).

Mr Groome, an Irish national, was 54 years old when he went missing on New Year’s Day 2010.

In March his partner June Buttle, 56, was jailed for 16 years after admitting Mr Groome’s manslaughter.
