My list: Tom Taylor

I’M CURRENTLY READING: Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith, which is the pseudonym of JK Rowling when she’s not writing her Harry Potter books. Actually, I’m not reading it, but listening to it, because I spend a lot of time driving all over the place to go from one gig or comedy night to the next. This one is read by Robert Glenister, and he has a beautiful delivery.

I’ve been listening to: Believe it or not, I’m quite taken with the BBC Radio 2 programme The Organist Entertains, which is all Wurlitzers and music of a vanished age. It’s a little belter of a show. I also listen to anything where I’m in it or on it because I just want to get better.

On TV, I’ve been watching: A lot of American stuff that I’ve just discovered, like Parks and Recreation, Catastrophe and anything with Tina Fey in it. I’m a great fan of the ‘golden age’ or British comedy as well, programmes like Fawlty Towers. And I’m glued to this last series of Peep Show.

The film I last saw was: Spectre – and I went in the middle of the afternoon, because it’s the only time I get to watch films. It means I often sit there with very nice people who are three times my age, taking full advantage of their concessionary rates.

The live performance I’d recommend is: Anything which involves the jazz singer Stacey Kent. As soon as I heard that she was appearing in Harrogate, I was first in the queue for tickets. A great song stylist.

My next box set will be: Anything from the new wave of American sitcom shows. I really do want to find out so much more about them. They really have the edge with their writing these days.
