Mystery blaze death

The 62-year-old man was discovered after emergency services were called to a fire at the property on Elgin Close, in Bedlington Station, Northumberland.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said the cause of the fire was not yet known and investigations were continuing.

The spokesman said: “Police are appealing for information after a house fire in Northumberland.

“At 5.38pm (yesterday) police were informed of a house fire in Elgin Close, Bedlington Station, Ashington. Emergency services attended and found a 62-year-old man dead inside the property.

“The cause of the fire has not been confirmed and investigations are ongoing.”
