Neville father denies sex charge

The father of Premier League and England footballers Gary and Phil Neville “strenuously denies” an allegation of sexual assault, his lawyer said.

Neville Neville, 63, has been charged with sexually assaulting a 46-year-old woman in the early hours of March 23 in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Yesterday, solicitor-advocate Simon McKay said: “I wish to state clearly that he strenuously denies the allegation. I am instructed to test the propriety of the decision to charge and Mr Neville intends to defend the allegation vehemently.”

The Crown Prosecution Service released a statement to say that Mr Neville would face a charge. He will appear at Bury and Rochdale Magistrates’ Court on June 12.
