New hospital chief executive named

A NEW chief executive has been appointed to take over the running of hospitals in Doncaster, Worksop and Retford.

Ron Calvert will take up the reins at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on Thursday, September 1.

He is currently chief executive, at Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust and succeeds interim chief executive Peter Reading, who has been heading the trust since previous chief executive Nigel Clifton died in August last year.

Mr Calvert said: “These are challenging times across the NHS, but I am confident that I will be well supported by the workforce so that we can build upon the good work which has already been established at the trust.”

The new chief executive has held a number of senior management posts in hospitals across England.

Mr Calvert, a married father of two, began his NHS management career in Hull and holds an MBA and a BSc in Zoology, both from Newcastle University.
