The hidden stories behind some of the winners of the Nobel Peace Prize are unveiled in a new exhibition in Bradford.

Peace Museum UK has just hung a new temporary exhibition including original photographs, historical journals, event posters and documents.

The exhibition covers well-known figures such as Nelson Mandela as well as lesser known Nobel Peace Prize winners.

Iris Chu, one of the curators, said: “In developing this exhibition we were all inspired by the words of Leymah Gbowee, the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner, who said: ‘Don’t wait for a Gandhi, don’t wait for a King, don’t wait for a Mandela. You are your own Mandela, you are your own Gandhi, you are your own King’.

“We wanted to create an exhibition that inspires visitors as well as explores some of the controversies surrounding the Nobel Peace Prize. We hope that this exhibition offers an idea about what the Nobel Peace Prize is about and a vision for its future.”
