North Yorkshire Chief Constable speaks out on female police stereotypes ahead of new television documentary 'Women in the Force'
Chief Constable Lisa Winward, along with PC Charlotte Wood, PC Pauline Law and call handler Katharine Johnson, are just a few of the force's female members who will appear in the 10-part series Women in the Force on UKTV's W Channel every Thursday.
The series follows the work of women in various roles across the force, from the control room, to crime scene investigation and from response teams to the off-road motorcycle team. Each episode is based around the unfolding stories of three women – officers and staff the programme will return to across the series.

"We’re proud to have a high proportion of women in senior roles at North Yorkshire Police, but there is more to be done to encourage the next generation of women into policing and ensure we are truly representative of the people we serve. We hope the documentary gives any women thinking of joining up, the inspiration and motivation to do so.
“My thanks go to the women, their colleagues, families and friends who allowed the cameras into their lives, allowing a glimpse into the challenging, dangerous, emotional, but highly rewarding career that is policing. It really is a job like no other."
The programme will air on Thursday at 8pm.
