North Yorkshire: Grass fire

Firefighters battled a fire in a field full of elephant grass in New Earswick, North Yorkshire.

The fire was reported at about 8pm yesterday in a field off Haxby Road. Three fire engines attended the fire, which affected all of the 60m by 60m field of elephant grass, which can grow up to 3m tall. A spokesman said they believed the cause was deliberate.
