Derek Gledhill, journalist
Derek Gledhill, who has died at 89, was for many years a reporter on The Yorkshire Post.
He joined the newspaper in the 1950s and stayed the course to the Nineties, also writing for the Halifax Courier.
His first love was local cricket and he remained close to Elland Cricket Club throughout his life, serving on the committee at the Hullen Edge ground for more than 60 years and putting in stints as chairman and secretary.
He also wrote a history of the Huddersfield League club.
