Beverley Minster and this welcome glimmer of hope – The Yorkshire Post says

A WELCOME sign of the renewal of everyday life has been the continuing construction of scaffolding around Beverley Minster, perhaps the most spectacular cathedral in our region after the medieval masterpiece at York.

Beverley boasts the largest parish church in England and one of the finest Gothic buildings in northern Europe. But dotted around its stone floor are buckets to catch the rainwater that the old lead roof has let through. The first phase of a decade-long programme that will eventually see it all replaced has somehow continued while life around it has been put on hold.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has contributed towards this initial work, but it will take years of sustained fundraising to finish the job. As its vicar has pointed out, Beverley is justly proud of its Minster and there is scarcely a firm that has not appropriated it for a logo. Let us hope that some of them will find it within their business plans to put something back.
