Chatsworth House’s enduring charm after lockdown – The Yorkshire Post says

THE strictly controlled reopening of Chatsworth House on Monday, one of Britain’s greatest stately homes, heralds another landmark for the beleaguered tourism industry.

Home to the Cavendish family since the mid-16th century, its enforced closure has denied many people the chance to visit a much-loved house, and grounds, that is synonymous with the Peak District.

But what is so striking from new photographs of the stunning Painted Hall is how yellow direction signs have been fitted so tastefully so not to detract from the magnificence of the building or visitor experience (families will have to book in advance for admission).

In contrast to the Houses of Parliament where the yellow tape, and markings, look tatty by comparison, Chatsworth House appears to be setting new standards of excellence which will, in turn, help with the reopening of other castles, palaces and historic buildings of national note.
