Morrisons and a lifeline for abuse victims – The Yorkshire Post says
Suspected domestic violence killings are reported to have more than doubled in the first three weeks of lockdown, with charities and police raising concerns that it has been harder for victims to get help or leave their homes because of lockdown. The National Domestic Violence Helpline has reported a 25 per cent increase in calls and online requests for help since the lockdown began.
In that context, the news the Yorkshire supermarket chain Morrisons is opening safe spaces in 117 of its stores where people suffering from domestic abuse can contact support services with the help of specially-trained pharmacists must be hailed as not just a good move, but a genuinely life-saving measure.
