Our debt to Christians Against Poverty founder – The Yorkshire Post says

A visionary figure who continues to personify the very best of the Church, and Yorkshire, Mr Kirkby’s impact and influence, as he prepares to step down, is illustrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury’s heartfelt tribute.

The Most Reverend Justin Welby says “John’s religious conviction and passion for financial justice” has been the driving force for the organisation’s work freeing people “from the prison of debt”.

Yet it is more profound than this. As the Covid crisis leaves poorer families at risk of even greater indebtedness, the need for sound financial advice, and dialogue with lenders to guarantee fairness, has never been more urgent.

And that it is in a position to help so many people is thanks, in no small part, to Mr Kirkby’s quiet example. We’re all in his debt.
