THE rise of Yorkshire sport is epitomised by the county's affinity with horse racing.

Not only is this county home to many of the very best horses, owners, trainers, jockeys and stable staff who now give the powerhouse centres of Newmarket and Lambourn a genuine run for their money, but this region’s nine racecourses have all made huge strides forward in recent years.

The massive crowds witnessed at tracks like Beverley, Ripon and Pontefract, to name three, are testament to their work putting on not only quality racing, but entertainment for spectators of all ages.

These sporting venues are changing out of all recognition because of the enduring popularity of the Sport of Kings.

And then there is York’s showcase Ebor festival now under starters’ orders – it remains a truly national celebration of the very best of Yorkshire racing, fashion, cuisine and hospitality.

As always, style and substance are proving to be an irresistible combination.
