Another pointless and bloody conflict looms

From: Terry Duncan, Greame Road, Bridlington, East Yorkshire.

WHY, oh why do successive Westminster governments interfere in the affairs of foreign countries and use their entire military capability to bombard cities that will result in thousands more innocent deaths?

The UK leaders must cease being puppets of the USA.

Surely, recent conflicts such
as Afghanistan and Iraq are proving Britain has not gained one advantage, although both have caused the deaths of hundreds of our brave military men and women (Yorkshire Post, August 26).

BILL Carmichael (Yorkshire Post, August 23) is so right in his forthright column that we
should not be getting involved in the Syrian/Egyptian/Middle Eastern internal conflicts.

The worrying aspect of our Government toadying up to President Obama and the noises being made by David Cameron and William Hague are extremely worrying as they seem to be determined to get the UK involved in terms of financial and manpower commitments.

We have enough problems of our own to be sorted out urgently and surely our meddling government should be concentrating on dealing with the immediate matters such as immigration control, the economic situation, our future relationship with the EU and the association/control of the European Court of Human Rights and European Court of Justice over our ability to run our own country and policies.
