April 2: Going round bend over texts

From: Allan Ramsay, Radcliffe Moor Road, Radcliffe, Manchester.

WITH Lewis Hamilton telling his team not to talk to him when he’s negotiating a bend as it could cause him to crash, why isn’t the penalty for talking/texting on a mobile phone whilst driving, a 12-month driving ban – the same as for drink driving? Clearly, the current penalty is as useless as a chocolate teapot.

IN reply to Gavin Buick’s question “Who sets the traffic lights in Leeds” (The Yorkshire Post, March 26), it is the same person who set the lights at the top of Church Bank in Bradford! Only three or four vehicles get through each time.
