Captain Sir Tom Moore NHS scholarships would be lasting legacy – Yorkshire Post Letters
I AM a huge fan of Captain Sir Tom Moore (The Yorkshire Post, February 3 and 4).
I am in awe of all he has done for others throughout his life, plus the way he has raised our spirits and a huge amount of money for NHS.

Hide AdYes, we should remember the man but not with a huge, expensive statue. He was a modest man and I do not believe that is what he would want. By all means an appropriate plaque somewhere (York Minster perhaps).
How then should we remember him? May I suggest a scholarship at a medical school to help young members of the forces gain qualifications so they can continue to support the NHS which Captain Tom so loved?
I am sure donations would pour in for any appeal made in his name, but let us ensure it is used in a way Captain Tom would approve.

YOUR editorial (The Yorkshire Post, February 5) made the sensible point that the best way to honour Captain Sir Tom Moore is to make sure that NHS staff have the support they need while fighting the pandemic.
