I WOULD like to mention the manager and staff at Thornhill Co-op. For the past few weeks they have provided a service to the community by bagging food parcels for the food bank which you can then pay for.

This then goes directly to the food bank and saves individuals the hassle of taking them personally. This was very innovative of the manager and I think a mention of thanks should be made.

So often we see only negative news, and when this is mentioned, you can hear a reply ‘people aren’t interested in good news’. I, and I am sure many, don’t believe this and, in these unprecedented and difficult times, good news is what we would like to hear. And so a pat on the back to those deserving people.

Whilst on the subject I would like to mention that, on my recent excursions into Dewsbury, it has been looking clean and smart. We are now seeing the hard work our local councillors have put in and if we shop in the town, we can show real support.

From: Andrew Mercer, Guiseley.

I KNOW shop staff are doing their best – but I’m surprised at how few are wearing face masks or protective shields. They should be mandatory.
