Doncaster Sheffield Airport is Yorkshire’s premier airport – Yorkshire Post Letters
MANY correspondents have given their views in recent weeks on these pages around the merits or otherwise of the planned expenditure at Leeds Bradford Airport.
Some have suggested that Robin Hood (Doncaster/Sheffield) is a better alternative while one reader recently suggested that the position of Robin Hood made it difficult to get to.

Hide AdFor this reader’s benefit I hereby advise that, due to the airport’s proximity to the A1, A1(M) and the M18, each of which are only minutes away, this airport is within one hour’s drive of the following towns and cities: Doncaster, Grimsby, Lincoln, Scunthorpe, Mansfield, Nottingham, Chesterfield, Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Wakefield, Leeds, Harrogate, York, Selby and Hull.
Other places like Bradford and Huddersfield are not much further away.
In addition, for future possible rail connections, the Doncaster to Lincoln lines passes the boundary of the airport and the East Coast Main Line (London to Edinburgh route) passes within two miles on its way north into Doncaster and there have been plans for a rail spur to the airport.
