Labour need Eddie Izzard and not Keir Starmer at PMQs: Yorkshire Post Letters
Did Boris Johnson watch too many episodes of The Clangers in his early years? He seems to want to compete with them for the number of holes he can dig in his part of the planet. And for the number of clangers he commits.
Blocked by an ammo dump in Beaufort’s Dyke (itself a stain on the face of the entire nation), the blue-sky fantasist (who is incapable of focusing on real issues) now bullies civil servants into wasting even more public money on feasibility studies into his inane plan for a four-tunnel scheme criss-crossing the Irish Sea with a hub under the Isle of Man. When this scheme hits the buffers, I confidently expect his next scheme will be to fill in and pave over the entire Irish Sea.
Why can Labour not counter this nonsense by lampooning mercilessly the blustering deluded fantasist who has cheated his way into the driving seat of the nation? We need Eddie Izzard at PMQs, not Sir Keir Starmer.
From: ME Wright, Harrogate.
I echoed almost every word of Bill Carmichael’s latest column on Sir Keir Starmer and the ifs and buts of possible forgiveness for Boris Johnson (The Yorkshire Post, February 19). I was less sanguine with his reference to “the Government’s brilliantly executed vaccine roll-out”.
They played a vital, if erratic part; but the true brilliance continues to shine with the NHS medics, scientists, volunteers and cash-strapped local government all over Britain. It remains to be seen whether Boris Johnson and Co are capable of comprehending, grasping and reassessing the nation’s priorities.
