Letters July 28: Another Tory promise broken

From: Bob Swallow, Townhead Avenue. Settle.

THEY have done it again, breaking another manifesto promise. First it was rail electrification, now social care costs which were supposed to be underwritten from 2016. Now it is 2020, when possibly they will be out of power and it will be someone else’s problem. At the same time MPs have reluctantly accepted a 10 per cent pay rise – and apparently some think they deserve it. Who would trust a politician?

From: James Buick, Guiseley.

WHY have Yorkshire’s two transport ministers, Andrew Jones and Robert Goodwill, been so silent over the delay to the upgrade of the TransPennine route? Shame on them.
