Letters July 29: School uniform monopoly is over

From: Trev Bromby, Hull.

AS a grandad, being a present and past victim of the finance draining monopoly/con that is the school uniform triannual headache, I am delighted that Aldi have come up with full sets for £4. All we need now is for schools to come out with inexpensive iron-on logos and the misery for many parents is over – for good.

RE the article “Tax powers defy spirit of Magna Carta” (The Yorkshire Post, July 16). If Andy Silvester, from The TaxPayers’ Alliance, calculates that it is now 400 years since Henry V’s victory at Agincourt (1415), then I will not be approaching him with any tax-related queries!
