MP talking hot air over biomass
IN response to the article by Nigel Adams MP on biomass energy (Yorkshire Post, July 15), he appears to be seriously misinformed.
The burning of wood, grass or straw releases more CO2 into the atmosphere than does the burning of coal.

Hide AdAny engineering source will give you this information, and also inform you of the fact that the energy densities of the above biomass are much less than coal.
Mr Adams may wish to discuss the point with one of these groups: namely the European Environment Agency Committee who issued a paper in September 2011 detailing that the burning of biomass is definitely not carbon neutral.

Hide AdThe alliance’s CEO, Barney White-Spunner, is trying to rouse his members to put a “Spunner in the works” over the Corporation’s alleged coverage of rural matters on the grounds that, for example, the Countryfile programme is not sympathetic enough towards Mr Spunner’s objectives.
Nobody is doing more to promote a “them and us” division in society than Mr Spunner unfortunately.
