I WORK as a schools counsellor and a child and family therapist (Relate-trained). I also work in a GP surgery as a counsellor and am psychologically supporting a number of frontline workers during and after the pandemic.

I stopped watching Piers Morgan years ago because I felt he was a self-aggrandising bully who fastened onto any agenda that gained him publicity through notoriety.

However, since late January I’ve begun watching him again, and even though he is talking over people, he is asking the right questions.

He gets less annoyed than me when Minister after Minister can’t – or won’t – give answers to straight questions. They sidestep, bluster, or outright ignore.

Piers is showing the current crop of Ministers up, and they deserve it.

They don’t appear, in a time of a once-in-a-century crisis, to be able to say “I’ll check that out and let you know tomorrow”, for example.

If it was a Labour or Lib Dem Government, I’d expect all journalists to do the same, but the majority seem incapable of asking follow-up or incisive questions.

From: Dr Seshni Moodliar-Rensburg, Milton Keynes.

AS a psychiatrist working in mental health, I think Piers Morgan has done a brilliant job in interviewing Ministers and getting to the truth.

As a consequence, he’s got Ministers to acknowledge their mistakes – lack of action and lack of PPE, testing and many more. We are now seeing better decisions.

Thanks very much Piers Morgan. Your work will go down in history because of its important role.

I ALWAYS pay attention when Laura Kuenssberg or Robert Peston appear on TV, although I accept some viewers may dislike their style or personality.

So I resent Richard Wood’s presumption that their absence from our screens would “cheer us all up no end” (The Yorkshire Post, April 28).

Your correspondent has every right to his opinion, but he has no right to claim to express
 mine.

Politicians crave publicity and dealing with aggressive journalists comes with the job.

It is acceptable for Piers Morgan to expose the ignorance of public figures who are wheeled on TV to spout meaningless claptrap such as “the plan is being rolled out” as an answer to every question, yet have no answer to vital questions such as how many NHS workers have died.

From: George Morrison, Aberdeen.

PIERS Morgan is obnoxious and self-obsessed. He is biased against the Government. His production team has a lot to answer for too.

From: Dennis White, Cramlington, Northumberland.

PIERS Morgan has lost all credibility and professionalism as an impartial interviewer. He’s like an unelected politician free to slag off all and sundry because of the privileged position of TV.

From: Alan Webster, Oakdene Drive, Leeds.

IF Piers Morgan is the best ITV can deliver, I shall continue to watch BBC and Sky.

From: Colin Birks, Solihull.

I BET Piers Morgan was a
show-off bully at school too.
