Questions over
Mo’s huge fee

From: Malcolm Beaumont, Wordsworth Way, Bamford, Rochdale.

I APPLAUD the splendid achievement of Barney Kay’s recent 251km run in the Sahara Marathon des Sables, raising £15,000 from sponsors for Farm Africa (Yorkshire Post, April 25). However, this made me and others question why Mo Farah should receive a quarter of a million pounds for running half the London Marathon.

Those generous sponsors of charity runs as well as the runners, must be disturbed by the inconsistency of this huge payment which indirectly must be at the expense of runners, sponsors and the charities.

In Nick Ahad’s most generous and welcome comments on Harrogate and our theatre (Yorkshire Post, April 26) he twice refers to the town as a “suburb” – of Leeds, presumably.

Does Nick know something which we don’t, and dare we hope that Metro might soon
be able to have more say in
the operation and fare structures of our overpriced trains and buses?

What jobs?

From: Andrew Mercer, Oxford Road, Guiseley.

WHAT is the point of council agency Leeds and Partners – formerly Marketing Leeds – if job creation (Yorkshire Post, April 23) in Leeds remains so sluggish? I hope this is not another talking shop. What has it done? We should be told.
