Read my lips, we love Levy

From: Sara Parr, Cornmill Lane, Burley-in-Wharfedale, West Yorkshire.

IN response to the attack on our long standing news presenter Peter Levy by Allan Davies (Yorkshire Post, June 7), I had to respond. It never ceases to amaze me how some people think it is their right to slate another individual. Having worked for the BBC for 26 years and become classed as a Yorkshire and Humberside treasure, he still can be criticised for speaking too quickly and not moving his lips so he can be lip-read!

While the police conduct investigations suspects can be given police bail with a duty to report back to the police station. A few days ago, 57,000 people were revealed to be currently on police bail a few days ago. Some 3,000 were on police bail for over a year. These police bail numbers show the police are being deprived of resources to investigate crime to a conclusion.

ALAN Whitehouse’s article on the probable re-privatisation of East Coast rail highlights the stupidity of the Government’s belief that such a move would be an improvement over the existing situation (Yorkshire Post, June 8).

I find their staff have become well trained and friendly, the pricing of their ticketing structure sensible, and their website for booking most efficient.
