THE lame excuses by the chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, James Mason, for not filing company accounts is no surprise to me (The Yorkshire Post, October 3).

The accounts are for the previous year’s trading so why are they awaiting funds from Yorkshire local authorities?

The CEO, who is planning to bring golfers to Yorkshire courses, rather than Scotland, which has some of the finest golf courses in the world, is ‘living the dream’.

Any keen golfers want to play on the best golf courses in Scotland. As a member of the Institute of Groundsmanship, the top head greenkeepers’ jobs are managing Scotland’s golf resorts!

Maybe this is the time to wind up Welcome to Yorkshire, which has proven too expensive and start with a clean sheet of A4 and rewrite a cost-effective business plan. After all, we in Yorkshire are thrifty in the way we spend our hard-earned cash and expect value for money.

WELCOME to Yorkshire failing to file its accounts is no different to the EU which has never shown transparency in what monies it has or hasn’t got. Peas in a pod.
