School holiday fines are unfair

From: Dick Appleyard, Saxilby, Near Lincoln.

WHY should parents be fined if they take their children away on holiday in the school term time? Children and parents are entitled to go away for a holiday. If the cost of holidays is dearer in the school holidays than in the term times, parents ought to be legally allowed to take their children away without being fined.
