Security vans are targets

From: Stephen Nichols, Leyburn Avenue, Lightcliffe, Halifax.

Your item headed “Duo
sprung from security van by armed gang” (Yorkshire Post,
May 1) is not the first involving this company in recent
months.

I am sure they take every security measure, like taking different routes to court, going
at different times, changing drivers and so on, but if everybody knows that they
drive white vans with several small blacked out windows
and GEOAmey plastered all
over the side then surely the people who want to spring the villains also know!

Banking on bonus greed

IT has been revealed that
Lloyds Bank has made a profit
of £2bn for the first quarter of
this year.

Should that £2bn be paid back to the Treasury and any subsequent quarterly profit paid back until the taxpayer has got all the bailout loan back, or will that profit be used to help pay for the obscene bonuses they pay themselves?

I will hedge my bets, I think.

Benefit fairness

From: JC Penn, Birch Tree Drive, Hedon, Hull.

THE very poor of this country
do not have the benefits the
rich receive for being very wealthy and of course, the very rich do receive the benefits of the poor!

Child allowance, winter fuel payment, concessionary travel etc provided by the Government and local authorities are all payable to wealthy families.

Is this an act of God or just an example of human greed and selfishness?

More or less

From: Jim Priestley, Lindley Moor Road, Ainley Top, Huddersfield.

IT is nice to see that Greggs are selling less fattening products now “Greggs sees less shoppers on high street”. Perhaps there will be “fewer” people having health problems as a result (Yorkshire Post, April 30).
