September 25: Do-gooders are doing deserving Syria refugees no favours

BRIAN Sheridan (The Yorkshire Post, September 23) points out that Belgium and the Netherlands are actually more densely populated than the UK. Although true, this can be extremely misleading if not taken in context.

Scotland and Wales take barely a fraction of the migrants who enter England. On this basis alone, it is reasonable to point out that England is, by some distance, the most densely populated country in Europe and as some statistics suggest –the entire world.

Furthermore, if the Welsh and Scots take a much lower percentage, to some extent, this arises from their mountainous geography – not something for which Belgium and the Netherlands are greatly famed.

As a practising Christian, I firmly believe that help must be offered to the genuine but the multitudes of assorted scallies who have latched onto this migrants crisis must be weeded out.

Those so-called “do-gooders” who naively refuse to differentiate do our nation no favours while turning millions of our citizens hard-hearted against the many deserving cases who really must receive our assistance.

IT certainly didn’t take the migrants in eastern Europe long to start rioting. I would like to know how foreign individuals are allowed to walk into Europe without any form of identification or passport and be allowed to roam as they like?

We in Britain have to provide a passport and jump through hoops just to be allowed to visit other countries. The migrants wouldn’t dare riot in their own countries, many of them just see Europe as a soft touch.

WHERE are our champions in entertainment that could a show on in every city to help raise money for the refugees. We must not just look at funding from our struggling Government struggling, but from the voluntary sector holding events and coffee mornings. I’m sure readers have many ideas.
