Shopping malls are gruesome and damage communities - Yorkshire Post Letters

Something must be wrong - I almost agree with GP Taylor (The Yorkshire Post, March 24).

He’s right to describe most town centre shopping malls as gruesome.

Even worse are out of town shopping venues. They really suck the life out of towns. Show me a run down town centre and not far away there will be a large shopping complex built on a greenfield site with acres of car parking.

The Thatcher Government began encouraging these monstrosities with planning inspectors allowing them against local wishes.

Sadly, her successors have been no better, despite the late awakening to the damage they do to communities. Spare us from more please.
