Threats to Gina Miller and prominent women shame Britain – Yorkshire Post Letters
I READ your interview with Gina Miller (The Yorkshire Post, March 13). Gina is a successful London-based investment manager and occasional campaigner. She is precisely the sort of person who we should hold up as a fine example of what modern women can strive to achieve. As a successful mother with a solid career, she continues to campaign for the underdog and other causes, sometimes political. We can only aspire to be like her and her continuing enthusiasm for fairness in society.
It was exceptionally disturbing to read that she had received personal threats to her, and her children, during her effective challenging of the Government in the Supreme Court, over its undemocratic dealings with the Brexit process. Those threats were disturbingly violent and graphic in nature. What sort of nation have we become where it is acceptable to make violent personal threats against public figures? I feel sick to the stomach that folk have run out of political discourse and instead seek to perform deliberate violence on a professional woman and her children.
